Baritone Brian Shircliffe was last heard on Houston Grand Opera’s main stage as Paris in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette in 2005, and he created the role of Thomas in HGO’s 40th world premiere, A Way Home by Ethan Frederick Greene presented by HGOco. Other recent credits include Don Carissimo in Scarlatti’s La Dirindina and Rodolfo in Puccini’s La bohème with Opera in the Heights. Last year he sang Mahmoud in Edalat Square by Timothy Brady with Opera Vista. A native of San Antonio Texas, he is a member of the music faculties of both San Jacinto College and Houston Community College. Mr. Shircliffe won both third place and the Audience Choice Award in the 19th annual Dallas Opera Guild Vocal Competition. He can be heard on the recently released Newport Classics recording of Casanova's Homecoming by Dominic Argento. Brian holds a Master of Music from The University of Houston's Moores School of Music. Upcoming engagements include Guglielmo in Mozart’s Così fan Tutte and Zurga in Bizet’s Les pêcheurs de perles at Opera in the Heights.
