Bruno Ravella served as associate director at HGO for Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love in 2009. Mr. Ravella studied in France before moving to London in 1991. Mr. Ravella’s numerous credits as an assistant or revival director include The Marriage of Figaro, Der Stein der Weisen, also by Mozart, and Beethoven’s Fidelio (Garsington Opera); Wagner’s Tannhäuser, Verdi’s Aida, Richard Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier and Rossini’s Matilde di Shabran (Royal Opera, Covent Garden); Monteverdi’s The Coronation of Poppea, Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress, Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love, Mozart’s Così fan tutte and Love and Other Demons by Peter Eötvös (Glyndebourne); Così fan tutte and Gounod’s Faust in Valencia, Spain and Dvorák’s Rusalka at the Komische Oper Berlin. He has directed Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito and Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love for Hampstead Garden Opera and a community project of Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel. Mr. Ravella’s upcoming engagements include directing Charpentier’s La descente d’Orphée aux enfers with the Jerwood Project at Glyndebourne, a Charpentier/Blow double bill with the orchestra of Les Arts Florissants, Paris and Verdi’s A Masked Ball for Riverside Opera in London.
