About the Artist: Garnering critical acclaim for his debut at the Lyric Opera of Chicago as Sparafucile in Rigoletto, Silvestrelli has quickly become one of the most sought-after ‘bassi profondi’ on the international opera scene. He has been heard as Talpa in Il tabarro, as Simone in Gianni Schicci, in San Francisco Opera’s production of Il Trittico, in the title role of Duke Bluebeard’s Castle with the Milwaukee Symphony, as Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia with Los Angeles Opera, and as Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte at Santa Fe Opera. He has also joined Deutsche Oper Berlin as Fafner in Das Rheingold and was heard in Verdi’s Requiem with Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, which was recorded for the Telarc label. Other appearances include his portrayals of Simone in Woody Allen's production of Gianni Schicchi at Los Angeles Opera, Osmin in Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail for Bavarian State Opera and Lyric Opera of Chicago, Hunding and Fasolt in the Seattle Opera Ring cycles, and as bass soloist in Verdi’s Messa da requiem for San Francisco Opera. Silvestrelli has been featured in productions including La bohème in Chicago, Rigoletto for Washington National Opera, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Milwaukee Symphony, Il barbiere di Siviglia at Los Angeles Opera, The Abduction from the Seraglio in Munich and Chicago, and The Magic Flute at Santa Fe Festival. Additional roles have included Ferrando in Il trovatore at Lyric Opera of Chicago, Hermann in Tannhäuser with Seiji Ozawa at the Nomori Opera Festival in Tokyo, and the title role of Duke Bluebeard’s Castle for Welsh National Opera.
