About the Artist:
The work of internationally recognized director Francesca Zambello has been seen at the Metropolitan Opera; San Francisco Opera; Lyric Opera of Chicago; Washington National Opera; Royal Opera, Covent Garden; Paris Opera; Bayerische Staatsoper, La Scala, and the Bolshoi. She has also staged plays and musicals on Broadway, at the Royal National Theatre, Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Guthrie Theater, Vienna’s Raimund Theater, the Bregenz Festival, Sydney Festival, Disneyland, Berlin’s Theater des Westens, and the Kennedy Center. She has served as the artistic and general director of the Glimmerglass Festival since 2010 and the artistic director of The Washington National Opera at the Kennedy Center since 2012. She has also served as the artistic advisor to the San Francisco Opera from 2005 to 2011 and as the artistic director of the Skylight Theater from 1987 to 1992. She has been awarded the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the French government, the French Grand Prix des Critiques (twice), the Russian Federation medal for Service to Culture, three Olivier Awards, and two Evening Standard Awards.
