Rachel Willis-Sørensen, soprano

Soprano Rachel Willis-Sørensen made her HGO debut last season as Mascha in Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades and appeared earlier this season as Kate Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madame Butterfly. She also appeared this winter as Alisa in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, and as Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte with the HGO Studio. Ms. Willis-Sørensen won first place in the 2009 Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Singers and was a winner of the 2010 Metropolitan National Council Auditions. She recently sang the High Priestess in Verdi’s Aida at Utah Opera and the First Lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute at the Santa Fe Opera. The soprano is an alumna of Brigham Young University, where she earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in music.
