HGOco proudly offers three new, energetic, and imaginative school and community programs that explore storytelling through words, music, and art. Led by HGOco teaching artists and facilitators, they provide project-based learning to supplement course work.

OPERA TALES (Recommended for grades Pre-K – 4)Students interpret great opera stories in their own voices through storytelling, scripting, acting, and singing. Designed for one to six sessions (one opera story per session) per class.
CREATE AN OPERA (Recommended for grades 3–6)Modeled on HGOco’s summer Create an Opera camp, students (either full class or groups) write lyrics, compose music, and perform a short musical work based on a teacher-chosen subject area. Designed for six to ten classroom visits. (Collaboration with a classroom teacher or school’s music teacher preferred.)
METAPHOR PROJECT (Recommended for grades 6–9)The Metaphor Project empowers middle school youth to create an original work based on their own metaphors. With a teaching artist and a composer, students create speeches, poems, soundscapes, or other works of art to support an idea or message, and then present their original creations. Designed for six to ten classroom sessions.
