  • Visit Santa Fe in the company of Houston Grand Opera patrons

Join us July 29-August 3, 2015 for a week in Santa Fe, New Mexico as we explore the historic city that embraces art, culture, relaxation, and the breathtaking Santa Fe Opera. Best of all, you will travel with patrons of Houston Grand Opera!

The trip features five nights’ accommodation at the Inn and Spa at Loretto, which appears on the Travel + Leisure list of 500 World’s Best Hotels of 2014; spectacular dinners at private Santa Fe homes; and three Santa Fe Opera performances including La finta giardiniera featuring HGO Studio alumni Heidi Stober and Joshua Hopkins, Salome featuring HGO Studio alumnus Ryan McKinny in his role debut as Jochanaan, and Cold Mountain featuring baritone Nathan Gunn and tenor Jay Hunter Morris.

You will be happy to know that structure only goes so far. There will be plenty of personal time to relax or otherwise enjoy everything Santa Fe has to offer.

    Santa Fe Opera

Since 1957, The Santa Fe Opera has been the summer oasis for internationally-acclaimed operatic talent and opera enthusiasts. Enjoy three operas during your stay and mingle at private VIP parties.

    Mozart’s La finta giardiniera – July 29
If you think love is enough to drive a person crazy, meet the hapless lovers chasing each other amid the musical abundance of Mozart’s early comic opera La finta giardiniera, “the phony gardener.”

    Strauss’s Salome – July 31
This searing one-act drama of obsession and lust returns with a fresh staging that suggests the era when Salome was created: the Belle Époque period of material and sensual indulgence that prevailed in Paris before World War I.

Higdon’s Cold Mountain (World Premiere) – August 1
Deserting the Confederate Army and fleeing the hospital to reunite with the love of his life, wounded Civil War soldier W.P. Inman endures an American odyssey. The Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Jennifer Higdon captures the fervor of Charles Frazier’s thrilling novel Cold Mountain.
