High School Voice Studio
Auditions for the HSVS Class of 2016 have passed. Thank you to all who auditioned.
  • Houston Grand Opera’s High School Voice Studio is a prestigious year-long scholarship program for high school seniors who are interested in pursuing a professional singing career.

Each spring, eight students are selected from the greater Houston area to participate in the program. They receive weekly private voice lessons and vocal coaching from Houston Grand Opera staff focusing on technique and repertoire. In addition to presenting two recitals, participants gain “behind the scenes” experience with a professional opera company by observing rehearsals, participating in master classes with world-class artists, and attending HGO performances. This year, participants will premiere new works by young composers as a part of a collaboration with the American Festival for the Arts.

This year’s studio includes members from Clear Creek HS, HSPVA, James E. Taylor HS, Klein HS, and Pearland HS.

The class of 2015 will graduate having seen six HGO mainstage operas: Otello, Così fan tutte, A Christmas Carol, Madame Butterfly, The Magic Flute, Die Walküre, and Sweeney Todd.

HSVS Gradation Recital: May 17, 2015 at 6:00pm at Rice University

HSVS Auditions: April 25 and April 28, 2015

    • Callback Audition on May 3, 2015
