    The Velveteen Rabbit

    Adapted from the book by Margery Williams
    45 minute performance 
    A young boy is given a velveteen rabbit for Christmas. The other toys taunt the new rabbit, but soon the rabbit and the boy are inseparable. After the boy gets sick, the rabbit must be burned. A fairy appears as the rabbit cries tears of love. Magically, The Velveteen Rabbit becomes a real live rabbit.

    The Puffed-Up Prima Donna

    According to the U.S. Department of Human Health and Services, the majority of bullying still takes place at school; one in three students say they have been bullied at school.

    Opera to Go! will present an original opera surrounding the topic of social cruelty and bullying. After the wild success of last year’s The Pastry Prince (An Italian Folk Tale), composer/ librettist duo Mark Buller and Charles Anthony Silvestri will collaborate again on another memorable opera.

    Dates: January 25, 2016 – May 20, 2016 – Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays only

    Opera Blasts

       
    Opera Blasts 4.21.14   A program to complement Opera to Go! performances for children in Pre-K – Grade 1
    An Opera to Go! performance may be combined with Opera Blasts, which adapts music from the operatic repertoire for younger students. Opera Blasts is performed by Opera to Go! artists, who make famous opera relevant to the next generation of operagoers through engaging storytelling. Singers can visit up to five classrooms, providing a personal, interactive way for young children to learn about opera.

    Price: $750 for one Opera to Go! show plus Opera Blasts
