There is no more popular or more quintessential opera than Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca. Set in Rome over two days in June 1800, Tosca focuses on three characters that exemplify love, courage, corruption, and betrayal.

Floria Tosca is a beautiful opera singer in love with the painter and political revolutionary, Cavaradossi. But when Cavaradossi is captured for aiding an escaped political prisoner, Tosca must make a deal with the villainous police chief, Scarpia, to save her beloved from death.

Classroom preparation tools: Teachers will receive a curriculum-based study guide to help prepare students and teachers for the opera. Upon request, HGOco will provide a free presentation, led by an HGO docent, at your school.
