Few Houstonians have Frances Marzio's unique combination of skill and interest in business and art. Houston Grand Opera is extraordinarily fortunate that she has chosen to join our board of directors.

Frances is curator of antiquities and the Glassell Collections at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. She has curated countless exhibits at MFAH, most recently “The Cyrus Cylinder and Ancient Persia: A New Beginning” in May 2013. She has also published multiple books on various exhibits and collections, including The Glassell Collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston: Masterworks of Pre-Columbian, Indonesian, and African Gold.

Frances and her late husband, Peter, who was the director of MFAH for nearly thirty years, have been HGO aficionados for a long time. In 2012, Frances hosted a special event for HGO at the museum, and we are very happy that she is deepening her involvement with HGO this year. Having Frances on our board of directors forges a special connection between two of Houston's premier arts organizations; we are fortunate to have her service.
