Adam Cioffari, bass-baritone

Bass-baritone Adam Cioffari joined the Houston Grand Opera Studio in Fall 2008. Last seen as a Noble in Wagner’s Lohengrin, Mr. Cioffari will appear as the Jailer in Puccini’s Tosca and Elviro in Handel’s Xerxes. Last season, he sang the role of Snug in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Stanley in the world premiere of Brief Encounter by André Previn and Count Ceprano in Verdi’s Rigoletto. He received his bachelor of music and master of music, both in voice performance, at Indiana University, where he appeared as Monterone in Rigoletto. Other credits at IU included Dr. Miracle and Coppelius in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Masetto in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Orson in Penhorwood’s Too Many Sopranos, and Snug the Joiner in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This summer he made his debut with Aspen Opera Theater as Colline in Puccini’s La bohème. He was a finalist in HGO’s 2008 Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Singers.
